Approx. 8-hour drive

Your journey begins early in the morning after breakfast at your riad or hotel in Fes. Around 7:00 AM in winter or 8:00 AM in summer, your guide will collect you and head south through the fertile Saiss plains toward the Middle Atlas.

Pass by the alpine-style town of Ifrane, often dubbed the “Switzerland of Morocco”, and make a stop in the cedar forests of Azrou, where you’ll likely encounter Barbary monkeys in their natural habitat.

Continue to Midelt for a leisurely lunch break, then travel through the dramatic Ziz Valley, dotted with palm groves and fortified Berber villages. Drive through Erfoud, known for its fossils and date palms, and reach the vast desert of Merzouga in the late afternoon.

From here, hop on a camel for a scenic trek through the dunes, pausing to admire a glowing Saharan sunset. At the camp, enjoy traditional Moroccan tea before dinner is served. Spend the evening under a sky full of stars with live drumming and desert stories. Overnight: Merzouga Desert Camp

Rise early to catch the magical sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, return by camel or 4WD to meet your driver in Merzouga.

Head west to Rissani, the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty and home to one of Morocco’s most traditional souks. Then continue your journey to the green oasis of Tinghir. Take a peaceful walk along the Todgha river, passing small villages and farmland before reaching the dramatic Todgha Canyons—towering cliffs that attract rock climbers from around the globe.

After lunch in a local café, continue along the iconic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Boumalne Dades. You'll settle into a beautiful guesthouse nestled in the lush valley, surrounded by rugged mountain views.

Approx. 6-hour drive

After breakfast, drive through the scenic Valley of Roses. In the town of Kalaat M’gouna, you can stop by a local cooperative to see how rosewater and cosmetics are made during harvest season.

Continue through the Skoura Oasis, home to thousands of date palms and ancient kasbahs, before arriving in Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa.” Next, explore the historic ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a spectacular fortified village made of earth and straw that has been featured in many films, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

After lunch and time to explore the site, drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), where you'll pass traditional Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides. The drive is packed with panoramic views and cultural insight into mountain life.

Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon or early evening. Your driver will drop you off at your accommodation, marking the end of your unforgettable 3-day desert adventure.
