Upon arrival in Errachidia, your desert experience begins. After meeting your driver, you’ll travel south toward the magnificent Sahara, following a scenic route through the lush palm groves and cliffs of the Ziz Valley. The journey continues to Erfoud, a town renowned for its fossils and date production. Here, you’ll have time for a coffee break and a visit to a fossil workshop.

Later, you’ll stop in Rissani, a town rooted in Moroccan history and culture. On market days (Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday), the town bursts with color and energy. After a local lunch, perhaps trying the famous Medfouna (Berber pizza), you’ll visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of Morocco’s ruling dynasty.

By afternoon, you reach the edge of the Sahara. Camels await to carry you across the rippling dunes of Erg Chebbi just in time for sunset. Tonight, you’ll enjoy dinner and Berber music around the campfire, sleeping in a traditional luxury desert camp nestled in the sands.

 After breakfast, set out to explore the desert beyond the dunes. Your 4x4 adventure takes you across the rocky plains and hidden trails of Erg Chebbi. Along the way, visit nomadic families living in the wild desert expanses. They’ll welcome you with tea and share insights into their remote, resilient way of life.

Continue to the village of Khamlia, where descendants of African slaves preserve their musical heritage through mesmerizing Gnawa rhythms. Enjoy their performance and hospitality before returning to Rissani for another look at its vibrant market, a key stop along ancient trans-Saharan trade routes.

In the afternoon, head back to Merzouga for a second camel ride through the dunes. As the sun casts long shadows over the golden sand, return to your camp for another magical night. Gather around a fire under a canopy of stars while your guides prepare a delicious Berber dinner.

Rise early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, a moment of complete stillness and beauty. After breakfast in camp, you may want to try sandboarding or simply soak in the peace of the desert before your return.

Mount your camel for the ride back to the edge of the dunes, where your driver awaits. You’ll be transferred back to Errachidia in time for your flight, bringing your Sahara experience to a close. Depending on your departure time, brief stops for photos or snacks can be arranged on the way.
